Nanaimo International Jazz Festival Wins “Festival of the year” Award at Connect Conference
Nanaimo, BC – The Nanaimo International Jazz Festival is proud to announce that it has been awarded the “Best Festival” award at this year’s Connect Conference hosted by the BC Touring Council. The festival was nominated for the award alongside other major festivals in the province.
The Connect Conference is an annual event that brings together industry professionals and showcases the best of the performing arts in British Columbia. The “Best Festival” award recognizes festivals that have demonstrated excellence in programming, audience engagement, and overall contribution to the cultural landscape of their community.
“We are absolutely thrilled to receive this recognition from the BC Touring Council,” said Artistic Director of the Nanaimo International Jazz Festival, Dirk Heydemann. “This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team, our volunteers, and the community that supports us year after year.”
The Nanaimo International Jazz Festival has been a staple of the city’s cultural scene since 2017, bringing together jazz enthusiasts from all over Vancouver Island and beyond. The festival’s programming includes a mix of local and international talent, workshops, and free outdoor concerts, making it accessible to audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
“We believe that jazz music has the power to bring people together, and our festival is a celebration of that spirit,” said Heydemann. “We’re proud to be a part of the vibrant arts community in Nanaimo and to have the opportunity to showcase some of the best jazz talent from around the world.”
The Nanaimo International Jazz Festival is already looking ahead to next year’s event, with plans to continue its tradition of world-class programming and community engagement.
